St. Johns Pioneer Days '09

The family went to St. Johns for the annual Pioneer Days Rodeo in July. What a blast! Scott teamed up with Kevin and Brandon for the wild cow milking. Unfortunately, the cow proved to be a tougher opponent and the boys were nursing blistered hands and pride. But the day's events improved when Randa (my sister-in-law) paid $1 and dared Kaiden to enter into the adult greased pig contest. My first thought was... "Man! They grow 'em big here in St. Johns!" That poor little pig was up against dozens of huge home grown men and one scrawny kid from Safford. I prayed and Scott watched closely as the judge peeled man after man off the pile of bodies lying on top of the squealing pig. "Is that Kaiden?!" We both shouted. Who would've thunk it? There he was at the bottom of the pile hanging on to the pig's hind legs for dear life! Now we have a pig in the back yard named "Dollar". Thanks to Kaiden and Randa we will have plenty of pork to fill our bellies this Winter.
